Ayutthaya Historical Park includes two-thirds of Ayutthaya’s remains, including 95 sites of the Ayutthaya Dynasty’s royal palaces, temples, museums, etc. 67 of them have been ruined, only 4 temples are still in use, and Ayutthaya temples are mostly Khmer style and Sri Lankan style. There are so many meadows, flowers, plants, pavilions, bridges, pools, etc. between the monuments. It is like a big park. Some ancient towers are scattered among them, showing the perfect harmony. There are also large areas of grasslands, ponds, etc. in the park.
It takes a whole day or more to view the whole scenery in the park. There are restaurants and hotels inside it too. Visitors can choose to rent a bike or take a boat trip around the moat to see general view of the city.
The entire Ayutthaya Historical Park includes many monuments, and the most famous is the tree-headed Buddha of the Wat Phra Mahathat. Under the strong sunshine, walking in the empty historical park, you will sense the ruins and the mottled tree shadows make people feel that they are in the Summer Palace in Beijing. Only the model restored at the entrance reminds you the scale of the past of the Ayutthaya, and here is like an old man, who looks calm and vicissitudes but the history is subsided here to form a beautiful park. It is a quiet and graceful park that you will feel surprised. The treetops in the distance shake slightly, as if they were quietly whispering between the Buddhas.
Ayutthaya Historical Park is the inner city of the moat, the seat of the palace of the ancient dynasty, so there are scattered ancient ruins everywhere. Strolling by the river, closing your eyes, you can imagine the glory of the ancient city hundreds of years ago, and such kind of beauty cannot be described by any appropriate words, just wait for you to feel there.
Ayutthaya is a place full of stories, and there is a kind of broken beauty everywhere. Ayutthaya Historical Park is a well-known ruin of Ayutthaya. It is a great place suitable to go with friends and it is worth a special trip.
